Cesar E. Chavez Student Center

University of California, Berkeley

The 74,000-square-foot Cesar E. Chavez Student Center, built in 1959, was in need of improved internal space planning, a better sense of entry, and a more logical internal organization to give user groups an enhanced sense of identity.  Noll & Tam’s design features a new main entrance lobby and graphic signage system, clarifying circulation throughout the building, as well as an innovative plan to improve seismic performance.
