University of California, Berkeley
International House is an historic building that has housed UC Berkeley students and visitors from all over the world since 1930. Noll & Tam has provided ongoing architectural services including building evaluation and interior renovations for this self-supporting, non-profit organization with close ties to the University. In addition to renovating the administrative offices, library, guest apartments and historic Heller Patio, we are more than halfway through the phased renovation of all the residential restrooms in the building, to be completed over multiple summer schedules. We negotiated a unique compromise with DSA and UC’s CCRAB for restroom upgrades in order to maximize renovated facilities without having to make every restroom in the building accessible.
The interior design of our renovations respects the historic character of the existing building. Special care was taken to keep the existing wood baseboards and crown moldings on all interior finishes.
