“When you share ideas and keep the bar really high, you can accomplish something mighty together.”
Alyson Yarus joined Noll & Tam in 1997—and has proven she can handle just about any architectural challenge with intelligence, pragmatism and a knack for turning limited budgets into surprisingly grand results. Her clients know her as the master of juggling multiple user groups, strict schedules, and ancient infrastructures—usually without spilling a single drop of her coffee.
Beyond her technical prowess, Alyson is fueled by a spirit of creativity and innovation that makes each project a fresh adventure. Whether she’s experimenting with new materials, incorporating cutting-edge technology, or finding clever ways to reuse existing elements, she’s always looking for that spark that transforms “good” into “great.” Her inventive mindset helps her brainstorm solutions that are not just outside the box, but sometimes outside the entire building. It’s that fearless approach to design that keeps her work exciting, resourceful, and deeply attuned to the people and critters who will ultimately enjoy the finished space.
Alyson was a fencer at Stanford. While she enjoyed the individual challenge of skewering people with a sword, she always considered it a team sport. “You spend hours with your teammates every day, then have a peak of personal effort; you’re cheering for each other.” Today, her team has changed. Her desire to be a part of something special hasn’t.
