Moffitt Library’s Free Speech Café is a venerated UC Berkeley campus eatery. It had a large terrace, but lacked appropriate outdoor accommodations. Noll & Tam designed a canopy to provide expanded seating options. Custom steel beams are topped with a translucent insulated fiberglass and aluminum roof system, which glows at night with lights. The wavy contours create a counterpoint to the rectangular concrete building.
