“I’m fascinated by how individual people come together in the built environment and create a community.”
Moving around a lot as a kid, Hannah learned the importance of community and what gives a city a sense of place. Living in Seattle, Kansas City, Mons (Belgium), and Copenhagen, just to name a few, allowed her to see how different types of architecture can influence people and society. The community aspect is what appeals to her – what she calls “the people side of architecture.”
But that doesn’t mean the nitty gritty doesn’t also fascinate her – she loves solving construction challenges. Her previous work at a design-build firm gave her an appreciation for the full process: from drawing details to installing gyp board and hanging doors.
Now that she’s settled here, Hannah likes to explore the Bay Area and hike in the mountains. She’s found her people through local farmer’s markets and roller skating meet-ups. Engaging with the community and users of the buildings she’s designing for Noll & Tam – and collaborating as part of a team – brings it all full circle.
