Katie’s journey to Noll & Tam took a unique path. With a background in Humanities, she discovered her passion for architecture during an internship at a small design firm. While conducting facility assessments, Katie gained a deep understanding of how buildings function from the inside out, sparking her commitment to a career in design. After earning her master’s degree, she began dreaming of creating libraries—spaces that often serve as the heart and soul of their communities.
Storytelling through design is both a challenge and a joy. She finds inspiration in a dynamic blend of influences—from the rich narratives of literature to the whimsical, dreamlike worlds of Hayao Miyazaki films. She also draws energy and ideas from her fellow designers and the broader community.
A Northern California native, Katie likes to be outside as much as possible. She especially finds clarity and perspective on uphill hikes that test her endurance and soothe her mind.
Blending creativity, craftsmanship, and a hint of whimsy, she approaches each project with a unique perspective, striving to design spaces that inspire connection, spark imagination, and serve their communities with purpose. And yes, she’s now designing libraries!
